President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on September 16 in the Uychi district of Namangan region, aimed at improving the living standards of the population and the socio-economic development of the region. At the meeting, the achieved results, new opportunities, and plans for the future were discussed in detail.
Over the past eight years, enormous changes have been observed in the development of the region. A total of 7 billion dollars of foreign investment was directed, as a result of which about 8 thousand new production and service enterprises were launched. Significant growth was also recorded in the export direction - the range of products doubled and exceeded 1,000.
Currently, 82 percent of the working-age population earns income through small business and entrepreneurship. The real average monthly salary has tripled, reaching 15.5 million soums. It was noted that today's results are reflected in the daily lives of Namangan residents.
At the meeting, significant tasks were identified by the end of the year: attracting $4.2 billion in investments, increasing exports to $1 billion, creating jobs for 323,000 people, and lifting 26,000 families out of poverty.
The President put forward an initiative to implement the "Center for Development and Leadership" program. This program will include 328 mahallas in the most difficult conditions throughout the republic, as well as 4 districts each in Fergana, Samarkand, and Tashkent, and 2 districts each in other regions. Territories where residents are satisfied and have shown an example will be given the status of "Presidential district" and "Presidential mahalla," and they will be provided with additional opportunities.
In recent years, the poverty level in Namangan has decreased by two and a half times. The number of business projects has increased, and the average salary has reached 4.5 million soums. As a result, 62,000 migrants returned to their homeland in two years.
The task was also set to prepare a master plan for scenic places in the region and to provide jobs for 50 thousand people next year through new projects. It was noted that by constructing 650 service facilities along 40 kilometers of rivers and streams flowing through Pap, Turakurgan, Uychi, Uchkurgan, and Chust, it is possible to generate income for another 10,000 people.
At the meeting, the head of state emphasized that the main goal, along with ensuring economic growth, is to improve the well-being of the population and open the door to new opportunities.
