Based on Presidential Decree No. PP-5020 dated March 5, 2021, additional assistance will be provided to some students in difficult financial situations through the khokimiyats. According to the document, the basic tuition fees for 40 first-year students and 110 second-year and higher-level students will be covered by the state.
Contract fees are paid to the following categories of women:
- female students from low-income families registered in the "Unified Register of Social Protection";
- orphaned or orphaned girls;
- needy women who have lost their spouses and are raising minor children alone.
However, the decree also contains some limitations. In particular, the state does not cover tuition fees for those studying in the second specialty, as well as for female students studying at foreign or private universities in Uzbekistan.
This initiative is implemented at the expense of the local budget and is significant because it is considered as additional social assistance to women in the process of obtaining higher education.
