According to the results of the “smart cities” ranking published by Kept Consulting Company in October 2025, Tashkent was included in the group of cities with “development potential,” UPL.uz reported. The ranking covered 15 cities from the CIS and BRICS+ countries.
Tashkent scored less than 50 points and did not make it into the medium category of the ranking. The weakest result was observed in the “smart business and employment” direction — 40.4 points, ranking 14th. The insufficient availability of digital services was cited as the reason.
There are also problems in the field of environmental sustainability — each resident accounts for 3 sq.m of green space, and only 2% of the city area is landscaped. It was also noted that the air pollution index is in the range of 101–150.
Traffic congestion in the city’s transport system consumes a lot of time — the indicator is rated at 10.7. In addition, there is no open data portal, and data on urban management are updated infrequently.
At the same time, Tashkent is the leader in the CIS in terms of electric vehicle adoption, and “smart lighting” and “smart meters” systems have been implemented. Positive changes have also been noted in tourism and hotel infrastructure.
