
According to the Road Traffic Safety Service, in Uzbekistan, over 114,000 drivers have received penalty points in the five months since the system was introduced.
From June 1 to October 30, a total of 114,382 drivers were penalized with point deductions. The majority — 114,374 drivers — received between 1 and 5 points. Six drivers received between 5 and 6 points, one received 7 points, and another received 8 points.
Reports indicate that since the introduction of the system, the number of traffic accidents has decreased by 6.3%, while accidents caused by drivers have dropped by 31.2%.
According to Zoir Yuldoshev, head of the Information Service of the Main Directorate of Road Traffic Safety, the penalty point system has proven its effectiveness. He emphasized that such a significant reduction in traffic accidents had not been observed before.
Experts believe that this system increases drivers’ sense of responsibility and helps build a culture of safe driving.
