"Weddings are not competitions": Turdimov demands an end to extravagance

The issue of putting an end to extravagance and extravagance at weddings and ceremonies in the Syrdarya region was discussed. At the meeting, the khokim of the region, Erkinjon Turdimov, emphasized that managers, officials, and property owners should set a personal example for the people in holding weddings properly.

According to the khokim, the increase in luxury at some weddings and ceremonies is becoming a wrong trend in society. He noted that weddings should be perceived not as an arena of competition or boasting, but as a day of happiness and blessings.

"In 1914, Mahmudkhoja Behbudi wrote in the magazine 'Oyna' that excessive expenses at weddings are harmful to society. Even a century later, these words are still relevant. Waste is both a moral and an economic loss," Turdimov said.

The head of the region emphasized that khokims and officials must show a practical example by holding their own weddings or relatives' ceremonies modestly.

"To show off, to boast - is shortsightedness. We must set an example for the people not only with words, but also with practice," Turdimov emphasized.

At the meeting, specific tasks were defined for observing the established rules for weddings and ceremonies, preventing waste, and strengthening public control.
