The Karasuv Reservoir in Samarkand is seriously drying up

It has been established that the amount of water in the "Karasuv" reservoir, located in the Payaryk district of the Samarkand region, has been significantly decreasing in recent years. This was reported by the Cosmo Monitoring channel, which tracks satellite images.

This reservoir, with a capacity of 26.9 million cubic meters, usually allows irrigating 8,100 hectares of land. However, observations show that annual water reserves are steadily decreasing.

According to the data, in May 2019, there were 42.1 million cubic meters of water in the reservoir - this was higher than the standard capacity. Currently, the volume of water has significantly decreased, and some areas have almost dried up.
