At the Masan port in Changwon, South Korea, the official ceremony for the shipment of the first batch of Hyundai Rotem high-speed trains produced for Uzbekistan took place. The event was attended by the delegation of our country led by Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev, representatives of the Korean government, and Hyundai Rotem executives.
The new high-speed trains named “Jaloliddin Manguberdi” will start operating next year on the Tashkent — Urgench — Khiva route. Once operations begin, the nearly 1,000-kilometer distance can be covered in approximately 7 hours.
These trains were produced under the contract signed with Uzbekistan Railways in June 2024 and represent the first part of the country’s new high-speed train fleet. Five more trains of this type are planned to be purchased.
The project is an important step in further developing cooperation between the two countries in the railway sector, digitalizing the transport system, and introducing high-speed services.
