Time Out has included Registan Square in Samarkand in its list of the world’s most beautiful places for 2026. The publication praised the famous square for its unique architectural ансамбle, highlighting the madrassas built between the 15th and 17th centuries, richly decorated domes, and the striking harmony of the historic complex.
The new ranking features 51 destinations from around the world. According to Time Out, the list was compiled using the views and travel experience of experts and travel writers. It brings together a wide mix of locations, including natural landscapes, ancient cities, and remarkable architectural landmarks.
The top three places in the 2026 ranking were Spain’s Picos de Europa mountains, Indonesia’s Komodo National Park, and the Morgan Library and Museum in New York. The updated list also added several places for the first time, including the historic center of Bologna in Italy and the Capo Testa peninsula in Sardinia.
Registan Square remains one of Uzbekistan’s best-known cultural symbols and one of the main attractions for visitors to Samarkand. Its inclusion in the international ranking is another sign of growing global interest in the country’s historical heritage and architectural treasures.
