Mirziyoyev inspected the “New Tashkent” stadium

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed construction progress at a new football stadium in New Tashkent on March 24. The project is part of Uzbekistan’s wider effort to modernize football infrastructure and prepare for major international competitions. Reports Uzdaily.uz.

According to officials, work is moving quickly. The site has been fully leveled, foundation pouring is 95 percent complete, and metal structures are being delivered in stages. The first stone for the stadium was laid by the president on November 11, 2025.

Uzbekistan has expanded its football facilities in recent years by reforming domestic competitions, opening youth academies, and building 75 large stadiums and 302 mini-stadiums. Authorities have also renovated sports grounds at 1,500 schools, giving more than one million students access to improved facilities. Youth tournaments are now being held at mahalla, district, regional, and national levels.

The 55,000-seat stadium in New Tashkent is being built to meet FIFA standards and to help host the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be staged by Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. The complex will include six floors, more than ten escalators, three training pitches, a metro station, and parking for 5,500 cars. Mirziyoyev stressed the need to focus on every technical detail and improve the surrounding area step by step.
