If a New Airport Is Built in Tashkent, the Old One Could Be Closed

Deputy Minister of Transport Jasurbek Choriyev has announced that if a new international airport is built in Tashkent, the current Islam Karimov International Airport could be closed, reports uz24.uz.

It is reported that construction of the new airport is expected to begin in July of this year. If the project is implemented, the aviation infrastructure of the capital could be fundamentally updated. What will be built on the territory of the old airport after the new one is commissioned remains unclear for now. Official decisions on this matter may be announced at a later date.
