Relative of Shavkat Mirziyoyev eliminated over 20 Nazis in WWII — TASS

It has been revealed that Shavkat Mirziyoyev's cousin, Hero of the Soviet Union Urunbek Yakubov, eliminated over 20 Wehrmacht soldiers during World War II. This was reported by TASS after reviewing archival documents.
It is known that Urunbek Yakubov helped repel 7 Wehrmacht counterattacks while crossing the Oder River. He served as a mortar company calculation commander in the 248th Rifle Regiment of the 31st Rifle Division. In February 1944, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for repelling 15 enemy counterattacks over three days while crossing the Dnieper. In April 1945, Yakubov was awarded the Order of the Red Star.
"On January 24, 1945, while crossing the Oder River west of the village of Steine, Yakubov supported the riflemen with mortar fire, helping them cross the ice and seize the bridgehead. After moving his mortars to the western bank, Yakubov helped the infantry repel 7 fierce enemy counterattacks over two days. During these battles, he used his mortar to destroy 2 enemy firing points and over twenty soldiers and officers," the award sheet states.
In addition, Yakubov was awarded the medals for "Courage" and "For the Defense of the Caucasus."
