New route and glass barriers to be installed in Tashkent Metro

Ambitious plans have been presented to further expand and modernize the Tashkent Metro, the capital's most convenient and rapid transport system. This new strategy, showcased to the head of state, aims not only to upgrade infrastructure but also to fundamentally improve safety and payment systems.
New route: From "Ming Urik" to "Abu Saxiy"
One of the most anticipated updates is the design of a new metro line. This network "Ming Urik" station with the famous "Chilonzor Clothing Market" will connect. Construction will be carried out in stages; initially, the metro line to the South Railway Station will reach, and then it will be extended to the clothing market area.
Modern requirement at stations: Glass barriers
An important innovation is being introduced to ensure passenger safety. Special protective barriers will now appear on station platforms. This pilot project will first be implemented at the "Shahriston" station, where glass barriers will be installed at the platform edges. This will serve to prevent accidents and strengthen traffic safety.
Revolution in payment systems and new trains
Payment processes for metro users will also become much more flexible. According to the new strategy, it is planned to introduce various tariffs for passengers, such as daily, weekly, and monthly subscriptions . At the same time, remote payment options will be expanded.
The issue of updating rolling stock has not been overlooked. According to the plan, during 2027–2030 , the purchase of the most modern and comfortable new trains for the metro is scheduled.
These large-scale initiatives are aimed at properly distributing passenger flow in our capital and significantly increasing the convenience of movement for the population.
