School shooting in Sweden: 10 people killed (video)

A school shooting in the Swedish city of Örebro has killed 10 people, CNN reported, citing police.

The identities of the victims are still being determined. The attacker committed suicide. Police say the suspect was not affiliated with any criminal groups. It was not disclosed what type of weapon he used.

“He acted alone. This shooting is very tragic, there were many victims. This is a terrible incident, like a nightmare,” said Roberto Eid Forest, the city's police chief.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson expressed his condolences to the victims and their families.

"Today we have witnessed a senseless, deadly act of violence against completely innocent people - the most horrific mass shooting in Swedish history," he said.

Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer called it an "indescribably sad tragedy."

Örebro is the sixth most populous municipality in Sweden, with an estimated 125,000 people. The incident occurred at around 1:00 p.m. local time. Police, medics and rescue workers were dispatched to the scene, and officials urged residents to stay away from the area. Footage from the scene showed dozens of armed police officers, numerous ambulances and emergency vehicles.
