Dozens of Russian billionaires have achieved the lifting of sanctions. Those who managed to escape the restrictions have severed all ties with Russia, changed their place of residence and proved that they do not conduct business in Russia.
According to RTVI, billionaire Dmitry Pumpyansky was relieved of sanctions together with his wife Galina and son Alexander. Racer Nikita Mazepin proved that he had nothing to do with the business of his father Dmitry Mazepin, who owns Uralchem.
Several businessmen have achieved the lifting of sanctions through the courts:
- Dmitry Konov - former head of Sibur;
- Vladimir Rashevsky - former head of Eurochem;
- Sergey Mndoyants - former top manager of AFC Sistema;
- Alexander Shulgin - former head of Ozon.
In addition, some relatives of Russian businessmen have also achieved success:
- Pavel Ezubov - cousin of Oleg Deripaska, who is under sanctions;
- Maya Tokareva - daughter of the head of Transneft, who is under sanctions;
- Violetta Prigozhina - mother of the late Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of PMC Wagner.
In addition, in 2023, Arkady Volozh, the former head of Yandex, who has been living in Israel since 2014 and has made open statements against the war, was removed from the sanctions list.
Also, restrictions were lifted against Grigory Berezkin, the owner of the ESN group and RBC media holding, Farkhod Akhmedov, the former owner of Nortgaz, and Saodat Narziyeva, the sister of billionaire Alisher Usmanov. At the same time, sanctions remain in force against Usmanov and his other sister, Gulbahor Ismailova.
It is noted that Canada has also lifted sanctions against some Russians. Thus, the former first deputy chairman of Sberbank Lev Khasis, three former top managers: Natalya Alimova, Alexandra Buriko and Sergey Maltsev, were also exempted from sanctions.
According to the publication, one of the two applications was satisfied by the court.
