Pope Francis' health has worsened, the Vatican's press service reported. Due to a low platelet count, he underwent a blood transfusion.
According to reports, the 88-year-old pontiff is feeling worse. Despite being conscious, he requires a significant amount of oxygen. Doctors performed a blood transfusion because his low platelet count was caused by anemia.
Experts state that the Holy Father's condition remains critical, though he is not in immediate danger. However, doctors are maintaining cautious optimism. Since February 14, the Pope has been receiving treatment for bilateral pneumonia at Rome’s Agostino Gemelli Hospital.
Additionally, on February 21, reports emerged suggesting that Pope Francis might abdicate the papal throne due to his health condition. Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi mentioned that the pontiff could follow the example of his predecessor, Benedict XVI. However, he still aims to oversee the completion of the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year of Christianity in 2025. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
