Hamas Threatens to Execute Hostages
The conflict in the Middle East continues to escalate. The Hamas movement has warned that if Israel resumes military operations in the Gaza Strip, the lives of hostages will be put at risk. A spokesperson for Hamas' military wing, Abu Ubaida, stated in a video address on March 6 that if Israel increases its attacks, some hostages may be executed.

Israel's Position and Hostage Situation

According to Israeli authorities, Hamas militants are still holding 59 hostages. Of these, 24 are alive, while 35 have already been declared dead. Among the captives are a soldier with Israeli and German citizenship and a citizen of Thailand.

Ceasefire Agreement and Possible Violation

In January of this year, Israel and Hamas reached a temporary ceasefire agreement in Gaza with the mediation of the United States, Qatar, and Egypt. This ceasefire took effect on January 19, and its first phase ended on March 1. As part of the initial agreement, 33 Israeli hostages were released, including the return of the remains of eight individuals to Israel. In exchange, Israel released more than 1,500 Palestinian prisoners.

However, after March 1, the parties have not yet reached a new agreement to extend the ceasefire. Israeli officials have stated that if Hamas does not continue releasing hostages, they are prepared to resume military operations and increase pressure on the group.

Preparation for a New Stage of Conflict

Tensions between Israel and Hamas continue to rise. If the parties fail to agree on an extension of the ceasefire, the Gaza Strip may soon become the scene of another military confrontation, posing serious consequences for the civilian population in the region.
