8-Year-Old Boy Bitten by Black Widow in Attempt to Become Spider-Man

An unusual incident in Bolivia is causing widespread discussion on social media. In the town of Vichuloma, in the Oruro Department, an 8-year-old boy wanted to be like his favorite hero — Spider-Man — and gain superpowers, intentionally letting an extremely dangerous black widow spider bite him.
According to reports, while playing by the river, the boy found a black spider with red markings on its back under a stone — a black widow. Hoping to gain extraordinary powers like the famous superhero, he placed the spider on the back of his hand and deliberately provoked the bite. Then he put the spider in a glass jar and went home.
About three hours later, the boy began experiencing severe pain throughout his body, aching bones, and severe fatigue. As his condition worsened, he told his mother everything. She then rushed him to the local hospital.
Doctors immediately administered a special antivenom against the black widow's poison. Within about 30 minutes, his condition stabilized. According to reports, thanks to timely medical care, the boy survived and later fully recovered.
Interestingly, this is not the first time such an incident has been observed in Bolivia. In 2020, reports also surfaced of two brothers who let black widow spiders bite them for the exact same purpose and ended up in the hospital.
Experts once again remind children not to conduct life-threatening experiments by imitating movie and comic book characters. The venom of a black widow spider poses a serious threat to human health, and immediate medical attention is essential in such cases.
