Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to Russian President Vladimir Putin's statement supporting the idea of a 30-day pause proposed by US President Donald Trump. According to him, Russia has effectively rejected this proposal and is continuing its military operations against Ukraine.
Zelensky reported on new Russian attacks, noting that about 40 "martyr" drones were operating in the sky on the night of March 19. "Now in many regions it is heard what Russia really needs. About 40 "martyrs" are operating in our sky, the MNF," the Ukrainian president wrote. According to him, Russia is striking, in particular, at civilian infrastructure. Zelensky noted that a drone strike hit a hospital in Sumy, as well as attacks on cities in the Donetsk region.
Russian drones are currently being monitored in the skies over Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk and Cherkasy regions. Zelensky called on the international community to impose new sanctions on Russia, provide more assistance to Ukraine and provide security guarantees.

Carney described his conversation with Zelensky as "good and constructive" and stressed Canada's continued defense assistance and support for the energy sector. Zelensky thanked Carney for his "good ideas" on increasing pressure on Moscow.
