Kyiv attacked by Russian drones
Three people were killed in a Russian drone strike in Kiev on the night of March 23, including a five-year-old girl and her father, Ukrainian officials said. The drones hit residential buildings, causing fires.

The attack on the Ukrainian capital began around 9:00 p.m. local time and lasted until 2:00 a.m. In other regions of Ukraine, drone strikes continued until the morning.

“According to available information, three people were killed, including a 5-year-old boy. Another 10 people were injured. A father and his young daughter were among the dead. The youngest victim of the Russian attack was only 11 months old, Kiev officials said.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia attacked Ukraine on Sunday night using 147 drones and drone simulators (i.e. devices that are designed to increase the load on air defense systems, but do not have explosives installed).

By morning, 97 drones had been shot down, and another 25 drone simulators had lost their location without any negative consequences (this is the definition used by the Ukrainian military when drones disappear from radar screens).

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that there were many drones flying in the direction of the capital, and monitoring channels showed that there were dozens of them - from 20 to 60.

“The explosions are not stopping,” one woman living in the capital wrote on social media. “This is some kind of Armageddon,” another added.

In some videos shared by users, one can see massive fires.

BBC Ukraine correspondents also reported hearing explosions, air defense systems being activated, and the sound of Shaheed drones.

One of the videos posted showed a fire on one of the upper floors of a residential building, accompanied by loud screams. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, a woman died in this building on Sunday night, 27 people were evacuated from the house.

The window, floor and ceiling of one of the apartments on the sixth floor of another 16-story building located in the same area were damaged.

In the Podolsky district of Kiev, a fire was extinguished on the 20th floor of a 25-story residential building covering an area of ​​20 square meters.

In the Goloseyevsky district, a four-story office-warehouse building caught fire, the fire area was 2 thousand square meters. Here, a residential wagon and trucks burned down on an area of ​​​​60 square meters. Another person died at this site.

“During the study of the rubble in the Goloseyevsky district, rescuers found the body of a child. The body of a man was found earlier in the same place,” the State Emergency Service said in a message.

In Desnyansky district, rescuers extinguished a fire in an open area in the forest area. In Shevchenkovsky district, six cars were damaged. According to the head of the Kiev military administration, Timur Tkachenko, a fire broke out in a catering establishment in the Dnipro district.

Rescuers also said that they extinguished a fire after the collapse of one of the enterprises in the Brovary district. In the village of Kryukovshchina, Bucha district, two people were injured and three private residential buildings were damaged as a result of the collapse.

In recent days, Russian drones have been massively attacking residential areas of Ukrainian cities. Odessa and Kropivnytskyi have also been seriously hit.

On the night of March 22, Russia also attacked Zaporizhia with missiles, killing three people - a child and his parents.

Russian officials have not yet commented on the reports of strikes on Kiev.
