Trump names countries that are "worse than enemies" for the US
The European Union has turned out to be worse than its enemies, White House President Donald Trump said in an interview with Newsmax.

He accused other countries of plundering the United States for 45 years while Washington was soft and weak. As a result, Trump added, the country's debt has reached $ 36 trillion.

"But often friends, so-called friends, turn out to be worse than enemies. Look at the European Union, what they did to this country, how they cleaned it up," the White House leader said.

He noted that China has done the same thing, adding that it is time to return some, if not most, of the money.

The Washington Post, citing sources, reports that Washington plans to impose new tariffs on trillions of dollars worth of foreign goods starting April 2.

The US has already imposed 25 percent tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada. The same applies to products from China, increasing the rate to 20 percent. Washington has explained these measures by the fight against illegal migration and the supply of fentanyl.

In addition, the United States has imposed tariffs on goods from the European Union. Ottawa and Beijing have already announced retaliatory measures, and the European Union has promised to announce them in April.
