A court in China has put hundreds of live crocodiles up for auction - the starting price is $550,000!

Several hundred live crocodiles have been officially... put up for sale in the Chinese city of Shenzhen! The city's People's Court has decided to sell the reptiles weighing more than 100 tons through an online auction. The starting price of the lot is 4 million yuan, which is about 550 thousand US dollars!

This amazing online auction is being held by the Alibaba platform. The crocodiles put up for sale originally belonged to the Guangdong Hongyi Crocodile Industry Company. However, the animals were confiscated and put up for sale by court order because the company could not pay its debts.

The conditions for those who want to buy a crocodile are tough:
🔹 The buyer must have an artificial pond
🔹 He must create special conditions for the animals to live
🔹 The buyer is also responsible for the costs of transportation and logistics
🔹 Failure to comply with the conditions can result in a fine of 300 thousand yuan ($41 thousand)!

Crocodiles are among the most profitable animals in China. More than 100 types of products are made from them: meat, skin, and even cosmetics and wine! This time, the reptiles put up for sale are Siamese crocodiles, which are on the list of animals allowed for commercial use in China.

But... there are no buyers!

Interestingly, more than 4 thousand people have seen the auction announcement, but so far no one has registered to participate. This is the third attempt of the court to sell crocodiles. The previous two auctions were unsuccessful.
