Amazon introduces new Alexa for Shopping AI

Amazon has launched a new AI assistant, "Alexa for Shopping," based on Alexa+ technology to streamline the shopping process. This innovation fully replaces the Rufus assistant introduced in 2024 and provides users with voice and touch control across mobile apps, computers, and Echo Show devices. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .
The new assistant is designed not only to search for and compare products but also to provide personalized recommendations based on the user's shopping history and habits. Users can type questions into the search bar or use voice commands. For example, it is possible to ask the system for skincare advice or request reminders about previous purchases.
Alexa for Shopping features include tracking product prices and automatically adding necessary items to the cart. The system can also schedule purchases when prices drop or automate recurring orders for essentials like pet food.
The company is introducing a "Buy for Me" feature that allows the assistant to make purchases in online stores outside the Amazon platform. While seen as a convenience, the autonomy of the AI and the security of personal data are sparking some debate.
