Eiffel Tower staircase goes up for auction

Another interesting news related to the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris, the capital of France, has been announced. A rare fragment belonging to the original staircase of the legendary structure is planned to be put up for auction in the coming days. This was reported by The New York Times.
According to reports, this fragment put up for sale was previously part of a spiral staircase that allowed guests to ascend from the second to the third floor of the tower. According to historical sources, in 1983, this structure was dismantled and divided into a total of 24 parts. 20 of them have already found their owners through various auctions.
Now, this part, which is put up for sale, is gaining special attention as the last remaining fragment. Previously, specifically in 2016, a similar section of the staircase was sold for a record $611,000, which further increases interest in this lot.
The Artcurial trading house, which organizes the auction, hopes that a new record will be set this time as well. According to expert estimates, the starting price of the lot could range from $146,000 to $176,000.
It should be noted that this historical artifact is still in the possession of a French businessman who purchased it in 1983.
As a reminder, the Eiffel Tower was designed by engineer Gustav Eiffel for the 1889 World's Fair and quickly became one of the world's most recognizable symbols. Even today, it is considered one of the most famous attractions not only in France but throughout the world.
