According to a report prepared by the Associated Press based on data from 160 universities, this measure was taken against students who participated in demonstrations in support of Palestine.
Among the students whose visas were revoked, citizens of India and China suffered the most. Foreign students who protested against Israeli attacks from the Gaza Strip have also been affected by this measure.
In March, students were notified by email that their visas had been revoked. Hundreds of students are now at risk of deportation.

A federal judge has temporarily reinstated the visa of Dartmouth University doctoral student Xiaotian Liu. Two University of Montana students have also been granted temporary status and are now protected from deportation.
