An Uzbek citizen died during the earthquake in Istanbul
On April 23, 2024, an Uzbek citizen living in Istanbul, Turkey, died of heart failure. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul officially reported this.

It is reported that this tragedy occurred as a result of a strong fear and stress in our compatriot, who was on the upper floor during a strong earthquake in Istanbul.

Currently, the Consulate General is taking all necessary consular, legal and organizational measures to send the body of the deceased to Uzbekistan.

It should be noted that on April 23, several strong earthquakes occurred in Istanbul. The strongest of them had a magnitude of 6.2. The first earthquake was observed at 12:13 and its magnitude was 3.9. The epicenter of both earthquakes was located about 50 kilometers west of Istanbul, near the city of Silivri on the Sea of ​​Marmara.

According to the Istanbul Governor's Office, 151 people were injured during the earthquake. Most of them jumped from upper floors in a strong panic and suffered various degrees of injuries.
