Shooting Begins at India-Pakistan Border

The Pakistani army violated the ceasefire agreement in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir by opening fire on Indian positions, reports India Today. This marks the sixth violation in the past five days. The Indian army responded firmly to the provocation.​

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the military has full operational freedom to decide on the methods, targets, and timing of the response. Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif noted that an Indian incursion could begin in the coming days and that the country may use nuclear weapons in case of a direct threat.​
