The world’s largest electric ship has been launched in Tasmania

The world’s largest electric ship has been launched in Tasmania
A historic event took place in the port of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia - the electric ship built by Incat and named Hull 096 was officially launched.

This is a big step not only for Australia, but also for the world's shipbuilding industry. Because Hull 096 has become the largest ship powered solely by electricity.

130-meter titanium: Powered by electricity, non-polluting

This ship is 130 meters long and has the ability to transport 2,100 passengers and 225 cars at the same time.

Its most important feature is that it runs entirely on batteries. The ship's onboard batteries weigh 250 tonnes and have a combined capacity of over 40 megawatt-hours.

All of this is coupled to eight high-efficiency electric water motors, giving the ship incredible speed and range.

“This is the most ambitious and complex project in our history”

Incat chairman Robert Clifford said of Hull 096:

“We have been building world-class ships in Tasmania for forty years. But Hull 096 is our most ambitious, complex and, without a doubt, our most significant project. By creating this ship, we have taken not only technology but also environmental protection to a new level.”

According to him, the company intends to widely distribute environmentally friendly ships not only in Australia, but also in the international market in the future.

“The largest electric ship and vehicle”

According to Incat, Hull 096 is not only the world’s largest electric ship, but also the largest all-electric vehicle ever built.

Incat CEO Stephen Casey said:

“Hull 096 proves that low-emission, mass-produced transport is not just a dream, but a reality that can be achieved today. This ship is not just a technical solution - it is a symbol of the future.”

The Hull 096 project is a clear example of how “green energy” is being widely used beyond electric vehicles.
