Tourist boat with 110 passengers sinks in Turkey

On May 29 of this year, a tourist boat carrying 110 passengers sank near the city of Marmaris, Turkey. This was reported by the IHA news agency.

According to the publication, the incident occurred in the sea area near Paradise Island. The captain, noticing water entering the vessel, attempted to steer it to the coastline. However, the boat began to fill with water in a very short time.

Following this, the crew took immediate measures to transfer the passengers on board to other excursion boats operating in the vicinity.

“Coast guard units were also involved in the rescue operation. All passengers on board were promptly evacuated. Shortly after, the boat completely submerged. No one was injured as a result of the incident,” the report states.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the shipwreck.
