Ramzan Kadyrov is a very popular figure among Uzbek internet users. For this reason, we are paying attention to the latest event surrounding him. Today, once again, talks emerged about Kadyrov's resignation. The difference is that this time, it is not just a typical rumor—the resignation was mentioned by Kadyrov himself.
"I am asking for resignation"
Let me clarify from the start: Ramzan Kadyrov did not record a selfie video for his over two million followers on his channel, explicitly saying "I'm resigning." Nor is it likely he would say that outright. However, Kadyrov indeed talked about having requested resignation.
In recent days, various rumors circulated around Ramzan Kadyrov. Independent Russian media wrote that the Chechen leader was staying overnight in a hospital. Against the backdrop of these conversations, Chechen state media published Kadyrov's own remarks. According to the publication "Chechnya Today," Kadyrov participated in the "Victory Tree" event and responded to journalists’ questions regarding the rumors.
"I've also heard them; they write various things. On the contrary, I myself am asking to be relieved of my duties. Another person would come with different initiatives and their own perspective. I hope my request will be accepted," the Chechen state media quoted Kadyrov as saying.
Additionally, the post also mentions advice Kadyrov received from Vladimir Putin. The Chechen leader stated that Putin advised him to simply lie down and sleep when he is angry. "I do exactly that, and everything turns out fine," said Kadyrov.
Another round of rumors
Ramzan Kadyrov did not bring this up accidentally. Yesterday, "Novaya Gazeta. Europe," which actively covers events in Chechnya, wrote that recently the Chechen leader often spent nights at the "Aymed" clinic in Grozny, and traveled outside Grozny using a special medical helicopter for longer distances. The publication reported that Kadyrov had been diagnosed with pancreatic necrosis. Moreover, the media outlet highlighted that at events where Kadyrov usually participated, the Head of the Chechen government, Magomed Daudov, appeared more frequently instead.
"I was misunderstood"
However, discussions about Kadyrov stating he requested resignation did not last even a day. By evening, the Chechen leader posted in his channel with more than two million followers, stating he was misunderstood.
"Many did not understand the meaning of my words about resignation. I do not decide whether or not I continue as the head of Chechnya. Yes, I can ask or propose, but only one person makes this decision—Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin. I am a soldier, and if there is an order, I will execute it," Kadyrov wrote in his channel.
Kadyrov also attached a video to the post, showing him embracing Putin at various meetings. The video notably includes frames where Kadyrov's sons meet with Putin. Recently, there has been much talk about Ramzan Kadyrov seeing his 17-year-old son, Adam, as his political successor. Kadyrov has already entrusted this son with the role of leading his personal security detail.
We will continue to monitor developments. If anything significant happens, we will certainly inform you. Stay with Kun.uz.
