The Kosmos-482 spacecraft, launched by the Soviet Union in 1972, entered the dense layers of the Earth's atmosphere at 11:24 Tashkent time and fell 560 kilometers west of the Middle Andaman Island in the Indian Ocean.
This was officially reported by the Russian space agency Roscosmos.
The Kosmos-482 spacecraft was launched as part of the Soviet Union's interplanetary research program aimed at studying the planet Venus. Its main tasks included studying the dense atmosphere of Venus, the composition of the planet's surface, high temperature, pressure and lighting conditions.
According to the Roscosmos agency, the spacecraft remained in a highly elliptical orbit around the Earth due to a technical malfunction in the propulsion unit and gradually approached the planet, eventually falling to the Earth's surface.
It should be noted that some time ago, the world media had put forward many assumptions about the return of this spacecraft to Earth. Some sources did not exclude the possibility of its crashing into Central Asia, including Uzbekistan.
Today's news has clarified these assumptions, and the crash of the Kosmos-482 spacecraft has put an end to many assumptions. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
