Shavkat Mirziyoyev awarded Turkish scholar Aziz Sanjar with the Alisher Navoi Prize
The award ceremony of the Alisher Navoi International Prize "For Contribution to the Unity of the Turkic World" was held within the framework of the informal summit of the Turkic States Organization in Budapest.

This year, the award went to Aziz Sanjar, a well-known Turkish biochemist, Nobel Prize laureate, and honorary doctor of the National University of Uzbekistan.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated Aziz Sanjar and emphasized that the awarding of the prestigious prize to a scientist will inspire scientists of the Turkic world, including young people, to conquer new heights.

The Turkic States Organization Prize named after the great thinker and statesman Alisher Navoi was established in 2021 at the initiative of the head of Uzbekistan. It is awarded once every two years for a special contribution to promoting Turkic culture, preserving peace, ensuring security and strengthening trust, as well as expanding cooperation between Turkic peoples in various fields.

The prize was first awarded in 2022 to the late Kyrgyz writer and public figure Chingiz Aitmatov.
