Former Apple designer Jony Ive joins OpenAI
Sir Jony Ive, the legendary British designer behind Apple’s iMac, iPod, iPhone, and iPad, will now work with OpenAI, reports BBC.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said he was “thrilled” to collaborate with “the greatest designer in the world,” and expressed excitement about developing a new generation of AI-powered computers together.

OpenAI is acquiring Ive’s design startup io for $6.5 billion, and Ive will be responsible for all design and creative direction across the company.

While artificial intelligence — particularly ChatGPT — is advancing rapidly, building compelling hardware for it has proven difficult. Several recent projects have failed to capture public or critical interest.
