Couple Married for 74 Years Die on the Same Day

Brazilian couple Pascoal and Odileta, who spent 74 years together, walked through life side by side. Their love story began with a simple coincidence: while the young man was spinning a chain pendant on his finger, it accidentally landed in the hand of an unfamiliar girl. This made them both smile, and from that moment on, love bloomed in their hearts.

They got married in 1951 — Pascoal was 20, and Odileta was 18. Over the years, they had six children and were blessed with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren.

In recent years, Odileta battled Alzheimer’s disease. Pascoal lovingly and devotedly cared for her. However, in 2023, he himself was diagnosed with a devastating illness — terminal bowel cancer. The news deeply saddened him: he knew he couldn’t live without his wife, and more painfully, she couldn’t live without him either…

Pascoal then began to pray: “Dear God, please take us on the same day.” And it seems his prayers were answered.

On the morning of April 17, 2023, at 7:00 AM, Odileta passed away at the age of 92. That same day, at 5:00 PM, Pascoal also died at the age of 94 — in the same room. Just two days after their 74th wedding anniversary, they departed for the afterlife together.
