
The situation in the area of responsibility of the CSTO remains tense. Terrorist threats are coming from Afghanistan. This was stated by Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, URA.RU reported.
"The military-political situation in the CSTO collective security regions remains tense. Threats to our countries are increasing. The West continues its attempts to inflict strategic defeat on Russia and put pressure on CSTO member states," Belousov said in a statement to RIA Novosti.
According to him, the terrorist threat from Afghanistan poses an additional risk to CSTO countries. The CSTO Council of Defense Ministers meeting in Bishkek is taking place amid the ongoing confrontation between Russia and Western countries, as well as the growing migration and terrorist risks at the external borders of the organization.
