Unexpected statement from the US: Are Russia's concerns close to the truth?
US President Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, told ABC News on Thursday, May 29, that Russia's concerns about NATO's eastward expansion are "reasonable." Although this may come as a surprise to many, Kellogg called these concerns justified.

"We fully understand Russia's concerns. We have repeatedly stated that Ukraine's accession to NATO is not on the agenda today. I think at least four other NATO members have also expressed this view," Kellogg said in his speech.

Keith Kellogg also announced another important piece of news regarding the negotiation process. According to him, the United States and Ukraine have not yet received the memorandum of understanding proposed by Russia, which contains the terms of peace. Nevertheless, the United States calls on the Ukrainian government to be active in negotiations aimed at ending the war and not to withdraw from it.

Recalling his conversation with the Ukrainian Defense Minister and the country's official representative in the negotiations, Rustem Umerov, Kellogg reiterated his advice: "Don't say you're not coming to the negotiations. They need to see that you're serious." According to the US representative, the most important goal of these negotiations will be to stop the war and the "murders."

Keith Kellogg also confirmed that not only the US, but also Germany, France and Great Britain will participate in the negotiations in Istanbul on June 2. This indicates that the negotiations may take a wide-ranging and serious tone.

The Russian side, in turn, announced that its delegation at this meeting will again be led by Assistant to the President Vladimir Medinsky. Medinsky has been participating in previous negotiations as a Russian representative and aims to reach agreements at the highest level to improve relations with Ukraine.

International observers are closely following the process of these negotiations. Because the outcome of these meetings will be crucial not only for the relations between the two countries, but also for the security of Europe as a whole.

Now the main question is whether the Istanbul talks, which will be held with the participation of the US and European countries, will lead to real peace or will they be limited to diplomatic clashes? Only time will tell.
