Starting from June 17, 2025, Russian Railways (RZD) will resume direct passenger services between Pyongyang and Moscow. Also, starting from June 19, the Pyongyang-Khabarovsk route will be launched. This was reported on June 9 on the official Telegram channel of RZD.
According to RZD, the Pyongyang-Moscow route will be operated twice a month, and with Khabarovsk once a month. These trips are undoubtedly of historical importance, since the Pyongyang-Moscow route is one of the longest non-stop railway routes in the world. The distance between the capitals of the states is more than 10 thousand kilometers, and the travel time is almost 8 days.
For your information, in February 2020, all passenger railway services between Russia and North Korea were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fact that the trains are now being resumed after four years indicates that relations between the two countries are developing.
Meanwhile, according to The Insider, weapons and various goods for the needs of the Russian army have recently been transported through the “Friendship Bridge” between the two countries. Such active railway communication can further deepen political and economic cooperation. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
