Drones on their way to Kharkiv: kindergartens and schools were shot at

The Russian army again targeted the second largest city of Ukraine, Kharkiv, from the air on the night of Thursday, June 12. As a result of heavy explosions and armed attacks, various infrastructure facilities, schools, kindergartens and apartment buildings in the city were severely damaged. This was reported by the mayor of the city, Igor Terekhov, and the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleg Sinegubov.

According to reports, during one night, the Russian military struck Kharkiv with at least 12 Shahed drones. One of them fell on the territory of a school, and the second on a playground near apartment buildings. A fitness center, residential buildings and, most importantly, a kindergarten were also destroyed.

According to city officials, at least 11 people, including 4 children, were injured as a result of the shootings. In addition, dozens of cars were damaged, and the windows of schools and houses were broken.

And it didn’t stop there — on the night of Wednesday, June 11, from 00:31 to 00:40, the Russian Armed Forces carried out a large-scale airstrike using 17 Shahed drones on the Slobodskoy and Osnovyansky districts of Kharkiv. According to preliminary data, 2 people were killed and 54 were injured as a result of this attack. Among the wounded were 5 children.

According to Mayor Terekhov, these attacks caused significant damage not only to construction sites, but also to residential buildings, public transport, trolleybuses, industrial facilities and engineering infrastructure. Burnt-out cars, broken windows and destroyed school buildings are reminiscent of a war zone.

These attacks have caused severe criticism not only from the residents of Kharkiv, but also from the international community. Because directly striking residential areas, educational institutions and children’s homes is a violation of the Geneva Conventions.
