Drone attack on Kyiv: 14 killed, 40 houses destroyed
On the night of June 17, Kyiv once again witnessed a major tragedy — as a result of drones sent by Russia, the capital of Ukraine suffered a large-scale strike. According to Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, at least 14 people were killed in this attack, and another 44 were injured. The number of casualties may still rise.

Clarifying the situation, the minister reported that drones struck 27 different locations in Kyiv. Among the affected sites were residential buildings, educational institutions, and important infrastructure facilities.

In the Dnipro district, debris from a Shahed-type drone crashed into a residential wall, damaging engineering structures. Fortunately, there was no fire and no casualties were recorded in this area.

Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko said that more than 40 apartments were completely destroyed as a result of the attack. He emphasized that there may be survivors under the rubble and that the number of casualties could increase. In the Solomianskyi district, during the attack, an explosion occurred near a building where doctors were providing assistance, and it was confirmed that a 62-year-old US citizen died.

After explosions in the Darnytskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts, fires broke out. Due to damage to power grids, electricity was temporarily cut off in some areas. Emergency services are quickly working to eliminate the consequences.

In recent weeks, drone attacks on Kyiv and other cities have been intensifying, highlighting the increasing importance of ensuring the safety of civilians. Ukrainian officials are calling on the international community not to remain indifferent to these tragedies.
