Against the backdrop of tensions in the Middle East, an important statement came from the leadership of the Israeli army. Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces General Eyal Zamir, after 12 days of intense clashes, openly declared his position. According to him, although one phase of the military operations has concluded, the war against Iran has not been fully completed.
“We are closing an important chapter, but the war against Iran is not over. We are now moving to a new phase, relying on the results achieved in military operations,” General Zamir said in a comment to Iran International.
He stated that during the 12 days, the Israeli army seriously neutralized Iran’s strategic nuclear facilities and its missile infrastructure. In addition, the high readiness of front-line command and military units contributed to the success of the operation.
At the same time, Zamir emphasized that upcoming operations will be more demanding and dangerous, and the military must remain cautious and vigilant.
“We are now turning our attention to the Gaza Strip, aiming to free all hostages, eliminate Hamas control, and establish stability in the region,” he said.
This statement came after U.S. President Donald Trump on June 24 announced that clashes between Israel and Iran had been stopped. That same day, Iran’s National Security Council confirmed that peace had been reached and declared that Israel had achieved a “strategic victory.”
However, Zamir’s words indicate that this is only a pause, not the end of the war. One could say military operations are on the threshold of the "second act." Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
