Forest fires in Turkey are increasingly becoming a serious ecosystem problem, reported tgrthaber.com. In Manisa province, a man who, in order to fight ticks, set a pillow on fire and burned down 12 hectares of forest and agricultural land, was arrested by court decision.
According to the gendarmerie, during the investigation of the causes of the fire, a citizen named Ozcan Tashhan was detained. The investigation revealed that he set the pillow on fire to get rid of ticks and threw it into the garden. As a result, due to strong wind, the fire quickly spread and more than 12 hectares of forest and field areas were damaged.
The Manisa court decided to arrest this person. The number of forest fires in the country has sharply increased — over the past five days, more than 340 fires have been registered in Turkey. Many residents of the regions are worried: every year, especially in the northern provinces, ticks cause difficulties. But this year, due to much higher temperatures, the tick problem has become noticeable even around Istanbul and Antalya.
The spread of ticks threatens not only forests, but also human health. For example, in Sivas province, since the beginning of the year, ten people have died from Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever caused by tick bites.
Experts emphasize the need to further strengthen safety measures in the country, carry out preventive work among the population, and protect forests. Problems dangerous for both nature and people in Turkey — fires, heat, and pests — require serious attention at the same time.
Will these incidents continue in the near future or will the state take quick action — this is a question that now worries all citizens. But the fact is that one careless act can cause enormous damage to the entire nature. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
