Russia has intensified its oversight of migration laws. This time, security forces conducted a large-scale raid in the city of Balashikha, located near Moscow. The operation targeted undocumented individuals, as well as warehouses and industrial facilities, according to a report from the Russian National Guard’s press service.
The Investigative Committee, military enlistment office, regional security directorate, FSB, and Ministry of Internal Affairs carried out the raid in cooperation with the National Guard’s special OMON unit “Avangard.” The goal was not only to verify migrants’ legal status but also to ensure public safety.
"The Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Balashikha Garrison, the military commissariat, the regional security department, and the FSB for Moscow and the Moscow region participated in the raid with the support of the Avangard OMON unit of the Russian National Guard. Warehouses and industrial sites in the city district were inspected," the press service reported.
During the checks, 150 undocumented migrants were identified. These individuals had neither temporary nor permanent residence permits, yet were found working at various locations. They were handed over to internal affairs authorities, and official investigations were launched by competent agencies.
Experts say such large-scale operations help distinguish legal migrants from illegal ones, prevent unlawful activity, and improve labor market conditions. These inspections are also vital from a public safety perspective.
Based on the raid’s results, illegal migrants may face deportation, fines, or other administrative penalties. Some businesses were also found to be in violation of laws and will face legal consequences.
Available data indicates that similar raids will be conducted in other regions of Russia. The country’s authorities maintain a strict stance on illegal migration. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
