Firefighting: Forests still on fire in Bursa

Forest fires in Turkey’s Bursa region have become a serious problem, with flames burning for several days without relief. High temperatures, strong winds, and dry conditions have caused the fires to spread rapidly. Local residents, emergency services, and officials are working together in an all-out effort to contain the disaster.

The fire began in Gursu’s Ipekyolu neighborhood and quickly expanded across the area between the Gursu TOKI settlements and Agachalan in Kestel district. Firefighting teams and volunteers have been battling the blaze throughout the night. As a precaution, residents of Karahidir neighborhood were evacuated, and as the fire intensified, people in Igdir and later Avdanjik in the Osmangazi district were also urgently relocated.

To control the wildfire, 1,163 personnel and 496 units of equipment, including fire-fighting aircraft and helicopters, were mobilized. Operations to extinguish the fire continued non-stop overnight, and by morning, air support was deployed again. Volunteers and local people have played an important role in assisting the emergency response.

Authorities are currently at the scene, assessing the situation, determining the damage, and investigating the causes. The regional administration is taking measures to support affected residents and urges everyone to strictly follow safety guidelines during such natural disasters.
