Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, speaking about the international political situation, noted that today the whole world is under the threat of war and feels the harbingers of a cold war. In his speech in the city of Baile Tusnad, Romania, he also touched upon global problems and renewed concerns.
According to Orban, there is no definite answer to the question of whether the Third World War will start. The return of US President Donald Trump to politics has reduced the risk of war. However, he also reminded that, throughout the world, the harbingers of war, political struggle and anxieties are steadily increasing in the international arena.
“Will there be a Third World War? There is no definite answer. With the arrival of President (US Donald — ed.) Trump, the probability of this has decreased, but it has not gone away. From what I see in international politics, the whole world feels the harbingers of war... I must say that after the harbingers, there is not always a storm, but there are terrible shadows,” Orban said in his speech in the Romanian city of Baile Tusnad.
The Hungarian leader noted that serious changes on a global scale, competition between major powers, the arms race, tightening trade restrictions, and the world’s division into blocs have further increased the risk of war.
Orban cited the results of surveys conducted in recent years in European countries and the United States. According to him, 40–55 percent of the population gave a positive answer to the question: “Can the Third World War begin within 5–10 years?”
In his opinion, the threatening shadow of world war is already felt now. “There is a war in Europe, this is a fact,” Orban said, considering the conflict in Ukraine a dangerous problem for the entire continent.
Even after the NATO summit, Orban emphasized that any confrontation between NATO and Russia within the alliance could lead to dangerous consequences for the whole world, and that it is important to prevent such threats.
Experts and ordinary people, in turn, are watching with interest what events will occur in the future and in which direction Europe and the whole world will develop.
