The global political scene is once again witnessing an important situation: US President Donald Trump has clearly stated that the military actions in Ukraine must be stopped by August 8, reports rbc.ru. This issue was officially announced by the US permanent representative John Kelly at the United Nations Security Council meeting.
According to him, it is time to reach an agreement between Russia and Ukraine on a ceasefire and establishing lasting peace. "It is time to make a deal. President Trump has clearly said that this process should be completed by August 8. The US is ready to take additional measures to ensure peace," said Kelly.
This deadline set by Trump — the 10-day ultimatum ending on August 8 — is regarded as serious pressure on Russia. If the war is not stopped within this period, US President Donald Trump has promised to introduce “approximately 100 percent” secondary tariffs against Russia and its trade partners.
The Kremlin officially responded to this statement, emphasizing that these words were taken for information. According to Russian president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov, the Russian economy is operating “under large-scale sanctions” and under such conditions has developed a certain “immunity.”
After this ultimatum, US President Donald Trump and former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev also engaged in a dispute on social networks. These events are further intensifying the world political climate, and the next steps are being closely watched.
According to Zamin.uz analysts, how the situation in Ukraine develops, the events surrounding Trump’s ultimatum, and the new duties against Russia may have a significant impact on future international economic and political stability.
