Germany ready to send two more Patriot systems to Ukraine

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced in a statement on August 1 that the country will deliver two more Patriot missile systems to Ukraine for air defense. According to him, this decision is connected with the international obligations of the United States in this area and is considered the fulfillment of the promise made by Washington.
“Due to the obligations assumed by the United States of America, Germany will first provide Ukraine with launchers, and then it will be possible to send additional technical equipment for the Patriot system. This is an official promise made by the United States,” Pistorius emphasized. He added that Berlin and Washington have reached an agreement to provide the latest version of the system to replace the Patriot systems delivered to Kiev.
According to the minister’s statement, in the coming days the German army, the Bundeswehr, will send launchers for the Patriot systems to Ukraine in addition to the previous batches. In the next two to three months, the technical and electronic components of these systems will also be delivered to Ukraine, further strengthening its defense capabilities against Russian aggression.
As Boris Pistorius noted, currently only six Patriot systems remain in Germany out of the original twelve. Three of them have already been transferred to Ukraine, two are deployed in Poland, and another complex is being used by the Bundeswehr and the Ukrainian military in training exercises.
This initiative is an important strategic support for the Ukrainian government, which is of great importance in strengthening air defense and preserving the country's sovereignty.
