A new approach to wedding traditions has been introduced in France. Through a startup called "Invitin", people can now attend a wedding of complete strangers as a guest. The service costs on average €150.
According to the founder of the startup, Katia Lekarski, only 5 to 10 unfamiliar guests are allowed at each wedding. This not only helps the newlyweds partially cover the expenses, but also provides guests with a unique cultural experience.
A couple named Jennifer and Paulo, who discovered the idea at a wedding expo in Paris, decided to invite five strangers to their celebration. They:
-
Selected guests via profiles in a special app;
-
Each guest paid €150 and attended the event for the whole day;
-
The group of guests included one couple and three men;
-
The main goal was not just to save money, but to encourage unexpected encounters and a fun atmosphere.
Jennifer emphasized: “It’s not about the money, but about enriching the vibe. We’re extroverts and we enjoy new formats like this.”
The bride and groom also aim to balance the number of women and men at their wedding by including outside guests. The idea has sparked widespread interest in France and may soon appear in other countries as well.
