World Order at Risk: Did Trump Betray Ukraine?

According to The Telegraph, the global political stage may be facing serious changes. Author Daniel Hannan believes that the Trump–Putin summit held in Alaska can be regarded as a practical defeat for the West. Under this deal, Russia would retain control over the majority of the territories it has seized, sanctions could be eased, and the United States would stop supplying weapons to Ukraine.

Hannan emphasizes that Kyiv has been supported by the West not for the sake of Zelensky as a person, but to defend a fundamental principle enshrined in the Atlantic Charter and the UN Charter — that borders must not be changed by force.

If Putin keeps his gains, it could send a signal to dictators around the world that NATO will not protect its allies.

“The world system formed after 1945 is disappearing, and in its place is coming a cold and dark order,” the commentator writes.
