Thousands of Palestinians flee Gaza City fearing Israeli assault
Due to the threat of an Israeli ground offensive on Gaza City, thousands of Palestinians are leaving their homes in the eastern areas and moving south and west. The area is currently under constant destruction.

Israel’s plans to seize control of Gaza City are raising concern both domestically and internationally. Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of Israelis are holding protests demanding an end to the war and the release of hostages held by Palestinian militants.

Egyptian and Qatari representatives are making last-ditch efforts to halt Israel’s ground offensive. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called Gaza City Hamas’s last major stronghold, but further military operations could increase the danger to the hostages.

In Gaza City, many Palestinians are planning protests to demand an end to the war and to prevent Israel’s ground invasion. Residents are relocating south in advance to protect their families and property. An estimated 1.5 million tents are needed for emergency shelter.

Since the war began in October 2023, the majority of the 2.2 million population has been internally displaced, and more than 61,000 Palestinians have been killed. In addition, 263 people, including 112 children, have died from hunger and food shortages.
