660 People Killed and Over 900 Injured Due to Monsoon Rains in Pakistan

 Since the beginning of the monsoon rains at the end of June, heavy rainfall and related natural disasters have caused at least 660 deaths and 929 injuries in Pakistan. This was reported by the National Disaster Management Authority on Monday.

As a result of the heavy rains and floods, nearly 2,500 buildings were destroyed, and nearly 30,000 people were evacuated and placed in temporary shelters. Various natural disasters caused significant damage to agriculture and livestock, further increasing economic losses.

According to the report, the highest number of casualties occurred in the north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where 392 people died and 245 were injured. In the north-eastern Punjab province, 164 people were killed and 582 injured. Deaths were also recorded in Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other provinces.

Pakistani officials are making efforts to save lives and reduce the damage caused by the natural disaster. They are actively assisting the population and carrying out necessary recovery work.

The monsoon season in Pakistan usually lasts from June to September, bringing rain that is crucial for agriculture but often leads to floods and other natural disasters.
