Experts warn that this hurricane may cause sea waves, floods, and dangerous currents. Local authorities are urging residents to take precautions and follow safety rules.
The hurricane is moving over the Atlantic Ocean and is not expected to make landfall. Nevertheless, North Carolina has been identified as the area most likely to suffer damage. Therefore, swimming bans have also been introduced in the states of New Jersey and Delaware.
North Carolina Governor Josh Stein addressed residents with a warning, saying: “The hurricane poses a serious danger, no one should enter the sea.” He also stated that rescuers and the National Guard are prepared for the consequences of the hurricane.
Authorities announced a mandatory evacuation on the Hatteras Islands. The reason is that the main roads may be submerged, making it difficult for people to leave.
The hurricane’s winds are reaching speeds of 168 km per hour, and wave heights may reach 4.5 meters. Experts say the hurricane is larger than usual and its effects may last for several days.
